Illamasqua & MAC Haul | Bethany Worrall

In between University and work I’ve managed to squeeze in a bit of shopping, what a surprise! I gave into the temptation of the Illamasqua sale as I was yet to try any of their products and was surprisngly quite restrained! I’m lucky enough to live 10 minutes away from a Cosmetic Company Outlet store that just happened to have a HUGE MAC delivery the day before I went last week. My bank account has took a hit but it was totally worth it!

Firstly my Illamasqua goodies!

Illamasqua Cream Foundation in CF150 – £5 RRP £23

I’ve never been matched to a foundation shade at a MAC counter, or any other for that matter so wasn’t sure what shade to go for. I thought the sale was the best time to try and match myself! I took to Twitter and asked the lovely Charlotte from SurelyChar  her opinion as she is an absolute babe who just happens to be a complete make-up addict! Originally I wanted the liquid foundation but by the time I went to place my order it had sold out, so though I’d try the cream foundation instead. I’ve never used a cream foundation before so I’m looking forward to doing so! The colour looks OK in the pan so fingers crossed it’s a match!

Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Lover – £7.50 RRP £18

My love affair with Benefit ended a while a go when I got sick of their crap PR when holding competitions and the fact that EVERY sale they hold, they don’t anticipate the demand so everything’s sold out after 5 minutes! As a Marketing student this angers me as the first rule of having an offer is anticipating the demand and being able to meet it, grrr!
ANYWAY, since then I’ve been trying to replace the Benefit items in my collection with any alternative possible. Porefessional has been replaced with Maybelline Baby Skin and Benefit Bad Gal by a little Clinique number I purchased recently. As a HUGE Coralista fan I bought MAC Melba and I’m really happy with it, but I saw lover in the sale and thought it wouldn’t hurt to add another blusher to my collection. I haven’t used this yet but I’ll be sure to report back!

Illamasqua Lipstick in Immodest – £7.50 RRP £16.50

I swear this shade doesn’t look so Barbie pink on the website! It isn’t a colour I wear at all and I’m angry with myself for adding it to my basket! What can I say, I’m a sucker for a lipstick! I have tried this but I hated it so took it off straight away! My little sister will be ending up with this for sure!

Now for my MAC splurge!

MAC Matchmaster Foundation in 1.0- £19 RRP £27

As I said before I haven’t been matched at a MAC counter for foundation but I saw this and thought it was a reasonable colour. In the Cosmetic Company Outlet Store they usually have shades that are way too dark so I decided to take the plunge. I have used this a couple of times and I think I may have been better with 1.5 but sadly they didn’t stock this. It is a pretty good match though! I’ll be sure to review it when I’ve given it a decent test! Also £19!? BARGAIN.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade – £15.50 RRP £22

If you follow me on Twitter you’ll probably know I have £50 on a Debenhams gift card and it’s burning a hole in my pocket. I desperately wanted the MSF in soft & gentle but whenever I’ve popped into Debenhams it’s been out of stock, booo. When I spotted Lightscapade for £15.50 I thought I may as well give it a go, it’s so pretty!

MAC Blot Powder in Medium – £14 RRP £20

I first bought this powder in August and didn’t think much of it until I went on holiday in September and wore it without any foundation. It made the world of difference and kept my shiny face at bay! I don’t have massively oily skin but I do get a bit shiny on my chin and T-zone! I’ve been using this on top of my foundation every day since I got back from Spain so when I saw this in there for £14 I knew I had to stock up! There were two left so I decided I’d clear them out!

MAC Lipstick in Cockney (left) and Captive (right) – £10.50 RRP £15

As we all know MAC lipsticks are pricey so whenever I enter the store I go straight to the MAC stand and check out the lipsticks. I’ve had my eye on Cockney for a while as I’m a sucker for a red lipstick and when I swatched Captive I knew I had to have it. I bought my first MAC lipstick in July and since then have been slowly building up my collection!

  1. I absolutely love Immodest! Why didn’t I buy this!! I have done a review of lover on my blog Beth 🙂 try the foundation with a wet sponge, it’s hard to work with a dry sponge and wen harder with a brush I found! Cockney is one of my all time fave mac lipsticks as well! Great haul, I’d be happy with all of that 🙂

    1. Do you want it!? I don’t think it’s a shade my sister would wear and it would be a shame to waste it? I’ve only applied it to my lips once! I can post it you 🙂
Ahh have you, I’ll pop over and have a look at your review 🙂 Thanks for the tip, I have a RT sponge thing so I’ll try using it with that, wet of course 🙂
I’m loving Cockney, it’s such a gorgeous colour!
Thank you for your comment Anoushka!

  2. I’m on a spending ban but this post is making me want to loosen my purse strings! Captive looks like such a nice lipstick. You should try illamasqua skin base foundation if you can get your hands on it; it’s a one of the loveliest foundations I’ve tried.
