Whats in my Carry on Bag?

Before I left for Mexico, I decided to write up this post showing you nosy people what I took on the flight. I find these posts really useful as I’m pretty useless when it comes to packing things. I’m also really nosy and like to know what people carry in their bag, regardless of where they are going.

Having gone on a good number of city breaks last year, I feel I’ve mastered the flying light technique, apart from when I flew to Geneva, I only took hand luggage and didn’t bother checking any into the hold. Having said that, two weeks all inclusive in Mexico threw me into a state of panic. What make-up do I need, which lipsticks shall I take? Then, what shall I take on the long haul flight?! I haven’t flown long haul since I last went to Thailand in 2010 and back then I didn’t really give a thought to make-up. Since starting this blog last year, it’s the first thing I think about!

I purchased a back pack from the children’s section in Primark. It is a really good size considering and is Minnie Mouse (couldn’t resist)… was only £9 and I’m hoping it will serve me well! Inside I have the usual, passport, money, phone, sunglasses, pillow etc. I’ve decided to take one book, my iPad and my headphones. I tend to fall asleep seconds after leaving the runway so I’m not too worried about having something to keep me occupied!

I have a clear bag which came in a set of three for £5 from Primark. The largest one is full of sun cream, which I decided my boyfriend can put in his suitcase so I can use the weight allowance on beauty products… The medium size one is full of toiletries and this is the smallest one, which is full of my liquids.

Inside I have Soap and Glory Hand Maid Anti Bac and Boots Cleansing Handy Wipes. I’m not a clean freak but there is nothing worse than having dirty/sticky hands and having to get up mid flight to find the loo! I have Colgate toothpaste and a travel toothbrush as I hate waking up after a few hours and not being able to clean my teeth. I’ve been on flights in the past where these have been provided but I take my own just incase. I have a roll on deodorant which was in the goody bag from the North West Bloggers meet in March. I really like the scent of this and it will be perfect. I don’t tend to apply much make-up for when I get off the flight, but I’ve packed the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Excess mascara, which I love! As well as the La Roche Posay Tinted SPF, I’m really looking forward to trying this out and a review will be on the blog soon! Not pictured here is the Soap and Glory Mist you Madly body spray, my friend bought me the larger bottle for my birthday and I love it! I decided to pop in my teeny bottle of Hydraluron, as I bought this is a set but haven’t tried it yet. I think it will be great for my dehydrated skin on the flight. Lastly for liquids, I have the Lush Eau Roma Water which I purchased after having it used on my face at an event at Lush Warrington. I love the lavender scent of this and have packed a few cotton pads to use it with throughout the flight.

What are your essentials?

  1. I’m that crazy person on a flight who gets into my seat and then immediately sanitises my hands and slathers on moisturiser all over my face! I take a pashmina so I can use it as a blanket if it’s too cold though usually it ends up behind my back to make the seats a little more comfortable. I definitely always have a bottle of still water and a packet of polos (in case of air pressure changes in the cabin!) and then as long as I have my Kindle and a way to listen to music I’m all set!

  2. Hand cream, eye cream, and a little tin of vaseline and I’m good to go for any flight! Hydrating toner waters are a great addition too and toothbrush/toothpaste is great, especially if your flight gets delayed (though lets hope it doesn’t!). Oh and a pair of clean knickers. I swear, when you’ve already been up and ready for hours, then sitting on a plane for even MORE hours, a fresh pair of knickers is downright delicious!
